The annual ESMAC meeting attracts clinicians and researchers from multiple disciplines such as orthopedics surgeons, neurologists, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, as well as physiotherapists, prosthetists, occupational therapists, human movement scientists, biomechanical/electrical/medical engineers, and others interested in human movement.
Any professional or academic with an interest in the following areas would find attending the conference an enriching experience.
Dear ESMAC members, colleagues and friends,
I am honoured to welcome you to the 25th Annual ESMAC Meeting in Seville.
From the Roman Hispalis to the Arabic Ishbiliya; from main port for trading New World goods after 1492 to host of the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929, the passage of various civilizations has shaped the cultural legacy of a city with a distinct personality. And just as then, a multidisciplinary event will provide the basis from which the movement analysis community in Spain will be able to blossom.
The Pre-Congress (26-28th September) will provide participants with the principles of gait analysis in the Basic Gait Course and some more specific Seminars covering both technical and clinical aspects of movement analysis. The Main Congress (29th September-1st October) will take place at NH Collection Hotel. The scientific program will provide the participants the opportunity to enjoy enriching lectures, oral and poster presentations on all aspects of motion analysis. Our partners from the industry are invited to take active part in the Congress.
We invite you all to the welcome reception that will take place in the stunning real Alcazar on Wednesday afternoon.
Our 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on Friday in a historic Sevillian House Palace, an excellent finishing touch to what we hope will be an even better meeting.
Looking forwards to next September!

Similar to the student mentorship program that has been offered for several years at GCMAS conferences, this year at ESMAC Seville, we are launching the Young Forum Mentorship Program.
The Young Forum Mentorship Program provides young researchers with the opportunity to meet and consult with senior members of the society who may then serve as mentors. For senior researchers, this is an opportunity to share ideas and get to know up and coming researchers in the field. Mentor and mentee are encouraged to share knowledge, skills, advice and experiences. The mentors are able to give a unique perspective, different from that of a supervisor, and are able to remain mentors in the years to come.
By signing up to the program, we will help assign the optimal mentor to mentee and help arrange a first meeting during this year’s conference in Seville.
If you are interested to participate in the program, either as a mentee or as a mentor, please email the following information by August 28th to Lynn.email@example.com
The purpose of ESMAC (the European Society of Movement Analysis for Adults and Children) is to stimulate and advance scientific knowledge, professional interaction and the exchange of ideas among Society members relating to movement analysis in adults and children in clinical and research settings. ESMAC is multidisciplinary by nature, mainly interacting clinical and bioengineering disciplines, and ranging from basic sciences to applied practices. Our members are from many backgrounds: orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrist, physiotherapists, human movement scientists, biomechanical and biomedical engineers; as well as many others.
Membership includes reduced registration fees to annual conferences of ESMAC and voting rights at ESMAC Annual General Meeting.
Visit www.esmac.org for more information.
This award is presented annually to the authors of the best scientific paper.
The highest scoring abstracts will be nominated as candidates for the best paper award in the programme for the meeting and the oral presentations will be assessed during the meeting. The award includes expedited publication in Gait & Posture and registration for attendance of the principal author at following year's Main Congress.
If you and your group are eager to host our Annual Meeting please let us know! It is a lot of work but also a lot of fun as I can tell from my own experience (Sebastian Wolf, Heidelberg 2015)
Candidates must be ESMAC member, should have a gait lab available to host the gait course and should demonstrate the will and ability to host this meeting. Promising candidates will be asked to present a first plan at our meeting in Seville to the ESMAC board on how they would organized this conference in 2019.
